Technical leadership. Human perspective.

New challenges.
Strong teams.
Room to grow.

I’m Dan. My career has taken me into unfamiliar industries, technologies, and teams. I’ve learned how to find my footing, put my experience to work, and help the people around me do their best work.

01 / My journey

The setting changed.
I kept growing.

I haven’t spent my career in one lane. Each move gave me something new to learn—and a chance to discover how my experience could help a different team succeed.

01 / Microsoft

Windows → Media Center →
Sustained Engineering & Security

Learning to grow within change.

I started at Microsoft working on Windows features, then moved into Entertainment and Devices with Media Center, and later into Sustained Engineering and Security. Even within one company, the work kept changing. Getting comfortable was apparently not on the roadmap. Those transitions taught me to adapt my technical experience to different problems and keep building on what I’d learned.

02 / Wilbur-Ellis

Technology in agriculture
Senior Product Manager

A new industry. A fresh perspective.

When I joined Wilbur-Ellis, I was new to technology in agriculture—which might have surprised anyone familiar with my record of keeping houseplants alive. Fortunately, my software skills had a better track record. I had a lot to learn about the business and where technology could make a difference. I adapted the skills I’d built at Microsoft and grew into a strong senior product manager in a field that had once been unfamiliar.

03 / Amazon

Devices
Device Launch team

Finding my footing, then moving forward.

Amazon’s Device Launch team brought another new challenge. Device launches were unfamiliar territory when I arrived, but I found my footing and excelled. I brought my experience into a new setting, helped teams work through launch challenges, and took on the responsibility of developing people along the way.

04 / T-Mobile

Senior Product Manager, Agile Transformation
→ Engineering Manager, Payments

Bringing product and people together.

At T-Mobile, I moved from senior product management in Agile Transformation into engineering management in Payments. That move brought my strengths together: agile ways of working, people coaching, and strategic leadership. I used them to help the team deliver strong products and help people grow in their own capabilities and careers.

What connects those chapters? I learn, I adapt, and I help people move forward together.

02 / Selected work

The work behind
the job titles.

A plan becomes meaningful when it meets reality. These stories show how I bring teams together, work through uncertainty, and turn decisions into a path forward.

An Amazon Device · Customer-focused leadership

Finding a way forward
when the answer wasn’t clear.

An Amazon device had an issue with no existing solution. Leadership believed it could not be solved. I wasn’t ready to give up on finding a way to help the customer.

I drove the search for a solution across more than 10 teams, including Forward Logistics, Software Engineering, and Reverse Logistics. I helped teams stay open to new possibilities, consider one another’s perspectives, and keep the customer at the center of the conversation. Together, we found a workable solution.

My contribution: Persistence, cross-team coordination, and customer focus.
The result: A workable solution built through collaboration.

Inside the story

No existing solution. A customer worth working for.

An Amazon device had an issue with no existing solution. Leadership believed it could not be solved. I kept the customer in focus and continued working with the teams to find a path forward.

My part in the workI kept the effort moving when confidence in finding a solution was low.
Mechanisms that scale

A better way to coordinate launches.

At Amazon, I saw an opportunity to make launch coordination easier. I explored better ways of working and championed an approach that helped teams across the Devices organization coordinate their work.

Leadership through people

Build capability alongside delivery.

I managed six program managers at Amazon, with responsibility for hiring, coaching, performance management, and promotions. Developing the people doing the work was part of my role alongside delivering the programs.

03 / How I lead

Learn the business.
Invest in the people.

My strengths travel with me: curiosity about how things work, a clear sense of direction, and a commitment to helping people grow. This is how I put them into practice.

01.

Start with curiosity.

A new domain gives me a reason to listen and learn. I ask questions, draw on the team’s expertise, and connect what I already know to what the business needs.

02.

Turn strategy into progress.

I bring strategic direction and agile ways of working together. I help the team see the purpose, make priorities clear, and adapt as we learn more.

03.

Help people succeed.

Coaching is part of how I lead every day. I want people to build confidence, take ownership, and see a path for their own growth alongside the work we deliver.

04 / What matters to me

A technical mind.
A people-centered
way of working.

I enjoy the point where something unfamiliar starts to make sense: how a business works, what a team needs, or how my experience can help. My career has given me plenty of opportunities to start there—and plenty of practice being the person with questions.

I care about what we deliver and who people become along the way. Helping someone grow in confidence, take on a new challenge, or become a stronger leader is meaningful work to me. That’s the kind of contribution I want to keep making. I also like a team that can share a laugh along the way. Difficult work is still work we do as people.

I’m interested in senior project management and software management opportunities where technical understanding and thoughtful leadership matter together.

About this site · Created with Codex

I developed this portfolio in collaboration with OpenAI Codex. I set the audience and direction: professional, technical, personable, and grounded in my experience. Codex helped translate that brief and my career stories into the design, narrative, and working HTML.

I reviewed and refined the stories, tone, and design to reflect how I work. The result brings together my technical curiosity, my approach to leadership, and a little of my sense of humor.

The next conversation

Let’s talk about what’s next.

Complex programs. Software teams. Meaningful work.
I’d welcome a conversation about where I can contribute.
